Financial support

Students and staff selected to be grant holders of a Go International Plus scholarship will receive contributions to travel costs and to individual support.

Student mobility

The receiving institution will not ask the grantee to pay fees for tuition, registration, examinations or for access to laboratory and library facilities during his/her mobility period. Nevertheless, the grantee may be charged a small fee on the same basis as local students for costs such as student unions and the use of study-related materials or equipment.

The mobility of students is limited from 3 to 12 months. The individual support for student mobility from Erasmus+ EU funds is:

  • Outgoing students (from Germany to partner country): 700 EUR per completed month
  • Incoming students (from partner country to Germany): 850 EUR per completed month

The final amount of the individual support for the mobility period shall be determined by multiplying the number of months of the mobility covered by Erasmus+ EU funds with the rate applicable per month for the receiving country concerned. In the case of incomplete months, the financial support from Erasmus+ EU funds is calculated by multiplying the number of days in the incomplete month with 1/30 of the unit cost per month.

For grant support to travel costs in the Erasmus+ Programme, travel distances must be calculated using the distance calculator.

Staff mobility

The mobility of lecturers or employees can be supported for a stay of at least 5 days up to a 2 months' duration (excluding travel days). The individual support for staff mobility from Erasmus+ EU funds is:

  • Outgoing staff (from Germany to partner country):
The amount of individual support is 180 EUR per day up to the 14th day of activity and 126 EUR per day from the 15th day.
  • Incoming staff (from partner country to Germany):
The amount of individual support is 160 EUR per day up to the 14th day of activity and 112 EUR per day from the 15th day.

The final amount for the mobility period shall be determined by multiplying the number of days of the mobility with the individual support rate applicable per day for the receiving country and adding the contribution for travel to the amount obtained.

For grant support to travel costs in the Erasmus+ Programme, travel distances must be calculated using the distance calculator.

Insurance

Please note that there was a change in German legislation related to the residence title for study purposes. In the future, all incoming international students are required to get a German public health insurance. The law affects all mobilities from October 2018 onwards.

The German public health insurance costs approx. 90-100 € per month. All incoming students will be informed upon your arrival/during the introductory days how to get this insurance.

Equal Opportunities

Erasmus+ programme promotes equal opportunities and inclusion for all members regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, religion and belief, disability and chronic illness, ethnic and social background. The actions aim at facilitating the access to the programme for participants with special needs.

To promote equal opportunities, the University of Göttingen supports the diversified needs of people from different background in gender, racial, cultural, social, religious and disabilities all over the world. Alongside specific measures supporting equal opportunity, the University aims to integrate principles of equal opportunity and the promotion of diversity into all university areas. The aim is to set an end to discrimination and recognize as well as enable manifold life choices and life styles across university. Consequently, the University pays special attention to promoting equal opportunity in the Erasmus+ programme, which is reflected in the calls for applications as well as the selection process and support of selected persons.
